Darkside (1993-present): a Heavy Metal band from Independence, Missouri, USA.
Established in 1993, Darkside utilizes dark and haunting rhythms and powerful vocals. Shortly after their debut 6 track demo EP Eternal Tears that same year, vocalist Steve Bentley earned Banzai Magazine's Best vocalist Of The Year award. During this time, Darkside promoted themselves heavily by taking every show offered to them. Their notoriety got the attention of some movie producers which culminated in their music being featured on B-horror movies like Bloodletting, I've Killed Before, Young Lust, Biker Babes From Beyond The Grave, Moonchild, Violent New Breed and Zombie Bloodbath II, as well as with the FEH Magazine and 'Inferno Music' compilation CDs. In 1997 they independently released the 5 track EP Creative Vengeance. Their big supporter, Banzai Magazine, gave them an award for their video Evolution Of Darkness, featuring their tracks October Moon and Final Eclipse. In 1999 they released their first full album, Masquerade under the membership of Steve Bentley (ex-Ancient Creation; vocals), Randy Hickey (bass/vocals (backing)), Travis Fittro (drums) and Gary Schelp(guitars). But sometime after that line-up was completely change to feature T-Mac (bass), Brad Shepherd (ex-Uncertain Future; drums), Lucian Clewell (guitars) and Curtis Clark (guitars) with only Bentley as the sole original survivor.
