Savage 79 (1979-1980): a NWOBHM band from London, UK.
They were known as Savage during the short time that they were active (early 1979 until spring 1980), they added '79' onto their name to avoid confusion with other bands of the same name such as Savage from Mansfield, UK and Savage Aylsham, UK. Originally forming under the membership of Russ Elliot (ex-Requium; bass), Mark "Gus" (ex-(Blind Wolf/Memento/Uncle Jack; guitars), Kev Hegan (ex-Requiem; guitars), Mark Kirkby (vocals) and Gary Pownall (ex-Blind Wolf; drums) who were featured on a split album, Obscure N.W.O.B.H.M. Demos Vol.3 (2021), along with Zenith and Axe Victims released decades after their demise. Also note that part of the original line-up (who did not record) would feature Dave Edwards (drums (1979)), Paul Margolis (ex-Devil's Chariot; drums (1979-1980)), Alan Sergeant (ex-Angel Witch (live); vocals (1979-1980)).
