Gorguts (1989-2005, 2008-present): a Death Metal band from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.
With a name like Gorguts we have a good idea that these guys peddle death metal. Eventually relocating to Montreal, Gorguts came to life with Luc Lemay (vocals (lead)/guitars (electric, acoustic)), Sylvain Marcoux (guitars), Eric Giguere (bass) and Stéphane Provencher (drums) when they released Considered Dead in 1991. They would follow-it up with The Erosion of Sanity (1993). Obscura (1998) saw a complete band replacement (except Lemay, Steeve Hurdle (R.I.P. 2012; guitars/vocals/songwriting/lyrics), Steve Cloutier (bass/songwriting (tracks 2-5, 7-12)) and Patrick Robert (drums). Steve MacDonald (R.I.P. 2002; drums) and Daniel Mongrain (guitars (lead)/songwriting (tracks 3, 5, 6, 7)) would step in for From Wisdom to Hate (2001). Once again Lemay would be the sole original member for Colored Sands (2013) when the band membership was replaced with Colin Marston (bass), John Longstreth (drums) and Kevin Hufnagel (guitars (lead). This line-up would be stable for Pleiades' Dust (2016).
