Phatstick (1999-present): a Pop band from Saint Catharines, Ontario, Canada.
Starting as a four-piece from St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada circa 1999 Phatstick built up their fan base by touring their local stomping grounds of South Western Ontario. Phatstick made their living by playing other more famous rock bands music live but over the time built up a library of their own material that they showcased from time to time. Jason Taillefer (vocals/guitar) and Joe Lavergne (drummer/vocals) grew up as childhood friends in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Jay and Joe had played music together for years and toured with a heavy metal band in Canada and the USA called Human Disorder, eventually publishing two albums. They decided to move to Toronto to better their careers after that operation closed up and enlisted the help of Julian Tomarin (guitar) and Jesse Turton (bass), formerly a Bluegrass performer at a St. Catharines club. He studied at Music College where we was top of his class in Jazz, rock and Bluegrass. It was here where they assumed the collective name of Phatstick. Since then they have toured the local music scene extensively and were voted top 3 on the 97.7 HTZ-FM rock Search Contest.
