Methusalem (2000-present): a Heavy Metal band from Raard, Friesland, Netherlands.
In the fall of 2000 Jort Visser (drums) and Wilco van der Mey (bass) decided to quit their current band and play heavy metal music. In an effort to combine their drums and bass with early Iron Maiden and Helloween influences they took a rehearsal place near Visser`s home in Raard (Holland) and conducted auditions, guitarist Dennis Hoekstra picked up the vocals, while guitarist Dirk Jan Veenstra took over the other guitar position. They would play early eighties traditional heavy metal music mostly based upon ancient cultures and fantasy stories. Their most notable achievement so far has been playing in Holland and Belgium with Paul Di `Anno┬┤s Killers.

Their debut, Unite and Conquer (2010), would see Harold de Vries on vocals, a position that would be replaced by Nick Holleman for the follow-up, Masters of the World EP (2020). Footnote: The name 'Methusalem' is a name that can be found in the Bible. Methusalem is presumed to be the oldest man in the history of mankind. "Altogether, Methusalem lived 969 years, and then he died" (Genesis 5:27).
