DespairBIOGRAPHYDespair (1988-1993, 2017-present): a Thrash Metal band from Dortmund, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. F eaturing Waldemar Sorychta (ex-Grip Inc./Voodoocult; guitar/keyboards), Marek Grzeszek (guitar), Klaus Pachura (bass), Markus Freiwald (ex-Voodoocult; drums) and Robert Kampf (vocals), Despair was one of the early signings for the newly founded 'Century Media' label, a label founded by vocalist Robert Kampf, and also one of the earliest bands to feature producer (and Grip Inc. guitarist) Waldemar Sorychta. After their first release, History of Hate (1989), Kampf would leave presumably to deal with his business affairs ('Century Media' would eventually be sold off years later becoming one of the predominant "retirement" labels for metal bands) to be replaced with Andreas Hentschel and the release of Beyond All Reason in 1990. Decay of Humanity would follow in 1991 following along the lines of a competent but unsurprising basic Euro-Thrash affair becoming dated as time passed. Although Sorychta was Despair's official producer, as it also turns out Kampf also fancied himself a producer and did so for other bands as well; his first album production outside Despair was Unleashed's Where No Life Dwells. Sorychta had also produced albums for Moonspell, Samael, The Gathering, and Tiamat. Waldemar Sorychta (guitars), Markus Freiwald (drums), Marius Ickert (bass) and Marc Grewe (vocals) would re-unite to reform the act in 2017. Read Less... ⏫
