OverdriveBIOGRAPHYOverdrive (1980-1985, 1997, 2003-present): a Heavy Metal band from Karlshamn, Sweden. A part of the developing Swedish Metal scene in the early 1980s, Overdrive played a basic '80s metal sound and launched their career with the introductory EP Reflexions in 1982 under the stable membership of Pelle Thuresson (vocals), Janne Stark (guitar), Kjell Jacobsson (guitar), Kenth Ericsson (bass) and Kenta Svensson (drums), along with two albums to follow titled, Metal Attack (1983) and Swords and Axes (1984); Swords and Axes proving to be a fairly accomplished and heavy affair for the time. The band disbanded in 1985, with a brief reformation in the early nineties and a one-time reunion gig in 1997. Stark has remained active in the rock scene, doing some solo work as well as recording with Locomotive Breath. 2001 saw the release of Mission Of Destruction, a posthumous live album, recorded at various times in the eighties. By 2003 the band had reformed and survived long enough to knock out three more albums in the form of Let the Metal Do the Talking (2008; with PerilOz Karlsson (Real Name: Per Lengstedt) on vocals), Angelmaker (2011) and The Angelmaker's Daughter (2011) before folding again in 2022 departing with several live sets and the compilation The Early Works 1980-1981. Footnote: Do not confuse this Overdrive with the Serbian hardcore punk/metalcore band.
