ThalidomideBIOGRAPHYThalidomide (1992-2008, 2022-present): a Death Metal band from Saint-Vallier, France. I t is no surprise that a band named Thalidomide would be a death metal band. Thalidomide is a drug that was widely used to counter morning sickness among pregnant women during the late 1950s. It was discovered soon after that the drug was damaging to the developing fetus and more than 10,000 children in 46 countries were born with rare deformities due to its use. It has since been banned as a drug. The band Thalidomide would finally debut in 2003 with Le paradis du mal under the membership of Laurent Robeyrotte (bass), Olivier Casula (drums), Jean-Philippe Gautier (guitars) and Christophe Pigal (vocals), after forming way back in 1992. In 2008 the act would split up but reform again in 2022 to release Le retour à la barbarie in 2025 with only Jean-Philippe Gautier performing on guitars, bass, and vocals. ** This article is also available on our official app.
