ince their formation in 2005, New York's Imperial Triumphant has been cementing their status as a standout avant-garde black metal band, with an increasing reliance on jazz, dissonance, and general non-conformity. They would debut with the Summons to War EP in 2008 under the membership of Naargryl Fjellkrieger (bass/vocals (backing)), Amarok Myrvandr (cello/guitars (rhythm)), Zachary Ezrin (vocals/guitars) and Maelström (drums), followed by the Obeisance EP in 2010 with Alex Cohen on drums.

The band was reduced to the three-some of Zachary Ezrin (vocals (lead)/guitars), Alex Cohen (drums) and new member Erik Malave (bass/vocals (backing)) for Abominamentvm (2012).

The Goliath EP (2013) would see the band expand to include Kenny Grohowski (drums: track 1), he would become a permanent member on Abyssal Gods (2015). The follow-up EP, Inceste (2016), saw the band expand again, now including Steve Blanco (bass/keyboards).

Once again the band was reduced to the three-piece this time with Ezrin, Grohowski and Blanco for Vile Luxury (2018), Alphaville (2020), Spirit of Ecstasy (2022), the A Night in Tunisia - Covers Collection EP (2023) and Goldstar (2025).
