Avernus

he name Avernus, was an ancient name for a volcanic crater near Cumae (Cuma), Italy, in the region of Campania, believed to be, in Roman mythology, the entrance to the underworld. Avernus plays a hybrid of post-doomdeath and atmospheric goth metal as seen on their debut ... of the Fallen in 1997 under the membership of Rick McCoy (vocals/guitars/keyboards), Erik Kikke (guitars), Roberto Franco (guitars), Tony Volpe (bass) and Rick Yifrach (drums/percussion). Grievances (2024) followed after the band's reformation in 2012 now with the membership including James Genenz taking guitars/bass/keyboards/vocoder/lyrics (track 8)/songwriting along side Yifrach, McCoy and Kikke.
