OverdoseBIOGRAPHYOverdose (1983-1997, 2008, 2016-present): a Thrash Metal band from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. O verdose is one of Brazil's oldest heavy metal bands, having been formed in Belo Horizonte in the early 80's by guitarist Claudio David and brother Baza. By 1985 a stable lineup had materialized and the band, ready to record, attracted the interest of the brand new 'Cogumelo' record label. As they didn't yet have enough material for a full-length album, it was decided that they'd release a split LP with another band, and that band happened to be another young Brazilian band by the name of Sepultura. The resulting Seculo XX/Bestial Devastation split LP under the membership of Pedro Amorim "Bozó" (vocals), Ricardo Souza (guitars), Cláudio David (guitars), Fernando Pazzini (bass) and Helio Eduardo (drums) thus linked the two bands forever after, and of course was and is an important release in Brazilian metal history. While Sepultura went on to conquer the world metal scene several years later, Overdose has done reasonably well in their home country, as much of their material was only released in Brazil. Under the membership of Pedro "Bozó" (vocals/vocals (backing)), Cláudio David (guitars (lead, rhythm, acoustic)/vocals (backing)), Fernando Pazzini (bass/vocals (backing)) and Helio Eduardo (drums/vocals (backing)), Overdose would release ...Conscience... (1987), You're Really Big! (1989) and Addicted to Reality (1990); the latter two also featuring André Márcio on drums. In 2024 the band reformed with a major line-up change to feature Filipe Duarte (bass), Tiago Hadriez Vitek (drums), Diego Quites (guitars) and Vitor Santos (vocals). Although not receiving international success, one album that did get an international release is 1992's Circus of Death. After the release of their Scars in 1995 the band carried on amidst some lineup changes, (including, ironically, the addition of founding Sepultura guitarist Jairo Guedz who also would be the founder of Brazilian band The Troops of Doom).
