tarting more death like, Deceiver, now Believer, transformed themselves into a progressive thrash metal Christian metal act. Starting with Extraction from Mortality (1989) under the membership of Kurt Bachman (vocals/guitars), Joey Daub (drums), Howe Kraft (bass) and Dave Baddorf (guitars), Believer would follow it up with Sanity Obscure now with Wyatt Robertson (bass).

Although the band never officially broke up, they were inactive after the release of Dimensions (1993) with Kurt Bachman (vocals/guitars), Joey Daub (drums) and Jim Winters (bass/guitars) with Bachman completing his PhD in molecular medicine and starting his own lab, specializing in cancer research. Daub joined Fountain of Tears. The two of them started playing together again in 2005, and eventually reformed Believer, when Howard Jones offered them a deal with 'Metal Blade Records'. Using the budget for Dimensions, Believer built their own recording studio where many bands would eventually record, including Earth Crisis.
