hose following story of Pantera, especially the latter years, were likely not surprised with the eventual announcement of their breakup, with vocalist Phil Anselmo delving into numerous projects and no real word from the Pantera camp for some time. So, it was 2003, Pantera was finished, leaving the Abbott brothers with the task of forming a new band, and soon enough came the announcement of that band, originally called New Found Power, then Damageplan, came along. The choice of lead vocalist fell to Patrick Lachman, formerly known as a guitarist in Halford.

Naming their debut album after the act's original name, New Found Power, in 2004 under the membership of Patrick Lachman (Diesel Machine/ex-Gargoyle/ex-Halford; vocals), Darrell Abbott (ex-Pantera; R.I.P. December 8, 2004, murdered onstage; guitars), Bob "Zilla" Kakaha (ex-Hellyeah; bass) and Vince Abbott (ex-Hellyeah/ex-Pantera; R.I.P. June 22, 2018; drums), proved to be a one off.
