FozzyBIOGRAPHYFozzy (1999-present): a Groove Metal band from Atlanta, Georgia, USA. T he real story behind Fozzy is that professional wrestler and vocalist Chris Jericho met up with Stuck Mojo guitarist Rich Ward, the pair struck up a friendship, and realizing they had musical interests in common, proceeded to form a covers band initially called FOzzy Osbourne but later shortened to just Fozzy. If that wasn't interesting enough Jericho and friends decided to invent a story about how the band came to be. And so the "official" story was released, stating that Fozzy was a legendary band who had been stuck in Japan for years due to a terrible record contract, and that bands that toured there actually stole their songs to record as their own, which explains why Fozzy (2000), the debut album, under the membership of Chris Jericho (vocals), Rich Ward (ex-Adrenaline Mob/ex-Sick Speed/Stuck Mojo; guitars), Ryan Mallam (guitars), Dan Dryden (ex-Sick Speed/ex-Stuck Mojo; bass) and Bud Fontsere (ex-Sick Speed/Stuck Mojo; drums), features "originals" such as Over The Mountain (Ozzy Osbourne), The Prisoner (Iron Maiden), Blackout (Scorpions), among others. No one believed this, of course, but it still made an amusing tale and helped get the Fozzy name out there. A cynic may wonder if this band is really to be taken seriously, with a bizarre cover story and a wrestler as lead singer. But serious they were (and are) -- Jericho is a capable singer, and the band with seasoned rockers held their own. Before long the band dropped the story and gradually shifted from a cover band to a true originals act. Their second album, Happenstance (2002), with the membership of Claude "Watty" Watson taking bass, featured about half covers, while All That Remains (2005), the third effort, with Sean Delson (ex-Stuck Mojo) now on bass, is all original material.Mike Martin (All That Remains; guitars) took over from Mallam for Remains Alive (2009) but was gone by the release of Chasing the Grail (2010), returning the band to a foursome. Sin and Bones (2012), Do You Wanna Start a War (2014) and Judas (2017) featured Paul DiLeo on bass (ex-Adrenaline Mob) and Billy Grey adding a second guitar. Boombox (2022) saw P.J. Farley take bass. After the recording Fontsere since left, and Grant Brooks take drums.
