Bal-SagothBIOGRAPHYBal-Sagoth (1993-2013): a Black Metal band from Sheffield, UK. T heir name comes from Robert E. Howard's story entitled "The Gods of Bal-Sagoth" and the concept of the band was conceived in 1989 by founder and vocalist Byron Roberts but it was not until 1993 that a full line-up was assembled, consisting of bassist Alistair MacLatchy, and brothers Chris Maudling (bass) and Jonny Maudling (guitar). Yes there were two bassists but by the time the debut recording, A Black Moon Broods over Lemuria (1995) arrived, the band featured only the Maudling brothers and MacLatchy. This line-up was maintained for Starfire Burning upon the Ice-Veiled Throne of Ultima Thule (1996) and Battle Magic (1998). The first line-up change came with the release of The Power Cosmic (1999), Atlantis Ascendant (2001) now featuring Dave Mackintosh (drums) and Mark Greenwell (bass). The Chthonic Chronicles followed now with Dan Mullins on drums. But the band shut down in 2013 after a split effort with Cauldron Born, Eternal Winter, Solitary Sabred and Battleroar.
