KongBIOGRAPHYKong (1988-2000, 2007-present): a Progressive Metal band from Amsterdam, Netherlands. N etherlands band Kong formed in 1988 as a side-project for Amsterdam-based musicians Dirk de Vries (guitars/samples), Mark Drillich (bass) and Rob Smits (drums). Aldo Sprenger (guitars) joined soon after in time to debut with Mute Poet Vocalizer (1990) and Phlegm (1992), the Konjunction EP (1993) and Push Comes to Shove (1995). Earmined (1997) saw the first line-up change with Rob Snijders (drums) and Marieke Verdonk (guitars). Freakçontrol (1999) saw another change in the form of Klaas Broekema taking drums. A set of compilations followed before the next studio effort, What It Seems Is What You Get (2009), arrived featuring Drillich as the sole original members; Mandy Hopman (drums), Tijs Keverkamp (guitars) and David Kox (guitars) now filling in the rest of band.
