CharonBIOGRAPHYCharon (1992-2011, 2015): a Gothic Metal band from Raahe, Finland. I n Greek mythology, Charon is the ferryman of Hades who carries souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron that separate the world of the living from the world of the dead. Although their early demo releases were more death metal, since vocalist and keyboardist Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto joined they played gothic metal/rock. Charon debuted in 1998 with Sorrowburn under the membership Teemu Hautamäki (bass/vocals (backing)/lyrics: tracks 6, 8), Antti Karihtala (drums/percussion), Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (vocals/keyboards: track 10)/songwriting: tracks 4, 7, 10/lyrics: tracks 1-5, 7, 9, 10), Pasi Sipilä (guitars/keyboards: tracks 1-9)/songwriting: tracks 1, 3, 8, 9) and Jasse Hast (guitars/songwriting: tracks 2, 5, 6, 8). Their sophomore set, Tearstained (2000) came next. Downhearted (2002), The Dying Daylights (2003) and Songs for the Sinners (2005) followed, the latter featuring Lauri Tuohimaa on guitars. On June 3, 2011, they announced that they would disband at the end of the summer Read All... ⏬ claiming they had nothing new to give to the genre they played.
