Church of MiseryBIOGRAPHYChurch of Misery (1995-present): a Doom Metal band from Tokyo, Japan. D ebuting under the membership of Tatsu Mikami (bass), Hideki Shimizu (drums), Tomohiro Nishimura (guitars) and Nobukazu Chow (vocals), Japan's Church of Misery would launch the EP Taste the Pain EP (1998), followed by Murder Company EP (1999). Next up would be Master of Brutality (2001) whereby the membership shifted to feature Junji Narita (drums) and Yoshiaki Negishi (vocals). Takenori Hoshi took guitars for the Boston Strangler EP (2002).The Second Coming (2004) included Hideki Fukasawa on vocals and synthesizer. A compilation and several split efforts followed before the release of Vol. 1 (2007) with Kazuhiro Asaeda (vocals). Once again the guitar position changed hands with Tom Sutton taking it for Dennis Nilsen (EP; 2008), Houses of the Unholy (2009) and Greetings from Jonestown (EP; 2009). ...And again the guitar position was changed to feature Ikuma Kawabe for Thy Kingdom Scum Read All... ⏬ (2013) but Eric Little (drums/percussion) and Scott Carlson (ex-Cathedral/Repulsion; vocals/lyrics) and Dave Szulkin (ex-Blood Farmers; guitars) would be the new members for And Then There Were None... (2016), but Born Under a Mad Sign (2023) saw the band as a three-piece featuring Tatsu Mikami (bass), Kazuhiro Asaeda (vocals) and new member Toshiaki Umemura on drums.
