As Divine GraceBIOGRAPHYAs Divine Grace (1993-2000): a Gothic Metal band from Pori, Satakunta, Finland. F innish band As Divine Grace has covered multiple musical styles during their tenure. As Morpheus (their previous name between 1991-1993), the band was first rooted in traditional death metal, but by the time of their debut EP as As Divine Grace, 1995's Romantic Beatitude of Faded Dawn under the membership Sami Långsjö (guitars), Ari Ala-Miekkaoja (guitars), Jari Mäkiranta (bass/vocals) and Matti Tuohimaa (drums), took the style of doom death bands like Paradise Lost was the primary influence. By 1996 Lumo, a relaxed gothic doom metal album followed under the changed membership of Jukka Sillanpää (keyboards/songwriting) and Hanna Kalske (vocals/songwriting/lyrics) much in the sound line of recent The Gathering in style, due in part to new vocalist Hanna Kalske. Another change in style transpired for their last album, Supremature (1999), an album which is really not metal at all, but a sort of melancholic gothic pop rock. Mikko Lappalainen would also be credited as drums on the album. The status of the band is now unknown but presumed ended as some of the various members were reportedly involved in non-metal side projects, and the band simply faded away around 2000 or so.
