aking their name from the Old Norse meaning "Might of the Æsir" or "Might of the Gods", Ásmegin would launch themselves in 2003 with the Hin vordende sod & sø debut in 2003 of 'folk metal in the so-called 'Viking' anthemic flavor under the membership of Bjørn Olav Holter (vocals (harsh)), Raymond Håkenrud (guitars), Marius Glenn Olaussen (guitars/accordion/vocals (backing: track 8)/lyrics: tracks 1, 2, 4-10/songwriting), Sregroth (bass/vocals (backing)) and Tommy Brandt (drums/percussion/vocals (backing)). It would be followed with Arv (2008) boasting Lars Fredrik Frøislie (Hammond organ/mellotron/mini-moog) and Erik Fossan Rasmussen (vocals (harsh)/drums). The band went silent after that: where-abouts unknown.
