Cirith Gorgor (1996-present): a Black Metal band from Panningen, Netherlands.

aking their name from The Lord of the Rings, "Cirith Gorgor" (the Haunted Pass), is the point where the mountain ranges of the Ered Lithui and the Ephel Dúath meet to the northwest of Mordor. Formerly named Dark Sorceress from 1993-1996, Cirith Gorgor would debut with Onwards to the Spectral Defile (1999) under the membership of Levithmong (Real Name: Roel Berger; drums), Lord Mystic (bass), Nimroth (Real Name: Michel Stigter; vocals), Astaroth Daemonum (guitars/songwriting: tracks 1-8) and Asmoday (Real Name: Chris van Klooster; guitars/songwriting: tracks 1-8) after the Torturing The Netherworld split earlier that same year.

The follow-up, Unveiling the Essence (2001), featured a small line-up change with Marchosias (Real Name: Erich Vilsmeier; guitars).

With the Through Woods of Darkness and Evil EP (2002), Firestorm Apocalypse - Tomorrow Shall Know the Blackest Dawn (2004) and Cirith Gorgor (2007), Inferno would take the other guitar spot. Waldtyr (Real Name: Yarno Philippi) assumed rhythm guitars for Der Untergang... / Победа!!! (2011).

(2016), the Bi den dode hant EP (2017) and Sovereign (2019) saw Satanael (Real Name: Rogier Janssen; vocals/lyrics: tracks 1, 5-7) and Valefor (guitars/songwriting: tracks 1, 5, 6) now in the fold. Cirith Gorgor MMXXII (2022) would see Pestus (Real Name: Adri van der Wal) on vocals.
