CephalectomyBIOGRAPHYCephalectomy (1997-2012, 2022-present): a Death Metal band from Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. F orming in 1997 under the leadership of Jason Nichols (bass/vocals), Corey Andrews (guitars/vocals) and Clayton Horne (drums) Cephalectomy would release two demos of a mix of epic, technical, black metal, death metal, grind, and progressive metal styles; their self-described style of "Northern Mystigrind" being inspired by Sylvain Houde-esq Kataklysm. The band returned with a full length studio proper in 2000 with Sign of Chaos (2000) and Eclipsing the Dawn (2004) sans Horne. With 2008's The Dream Cycle Mythos, Scott Armstrong took bass, while Peter Mestre assisted Nichols on vocals. The band would split in 2012 to reform in 2022 with Rob DeCoste taking bass and assisting on vocals, and Nichols dedicating himself to lead vocals full-time, and Andrews taking on guitars/vocals/programming. During the down-time, Andrews would go on to form Barra Xul later the same year, recruiting Raland Kinley and band colleague Scott Armstrong. Footnote: Cephalectomy is the surgical removal of the head (decapitation).
