Acid BathBIOGRAPHYAcid Bath (1991-1997): a Doom Metal band from Morgan City, Louisiana, USA. W hen the membership of Dax Riggs (vocals), Sammy Duet (guitars/vocals (backing)), Mike Sanchez (guitars/vocals (backing)), Audie Pitre (R.I.P. 1997; bass/vocals (backing)) and Jimmy Kyle (drums) settled in as Acid Bath after calling themselves Golgotha for one year but changing the name after discovering there was a European band under the same name, When the Kite String Pops (1994) resulted as their debut, with the Edits EP following soon after that same year. After the split Rotten Records Sampler (1995) with D.R.I., Street Cleaners and Kiss the Clown, the Paegan Terrorism Tactics (1996) followed featuring Tomas Viator (R.I.P. 2024; keyboards). Due to the death of Pitre the next year, Joseph Fontenot would assume bass. The band would split a year after; a compilation would be released posthumously. Duet would go on to form Goatwhore. It is widely believed there was to be a third Acid Bath album called Killer Rat Poison but this not so. In an interview Duet stated that there was a cassette tape containing recordings of him and Mike Sanchez experimenting with guitar riff ideas under the working title of "Rat Poison" named after a box of rat poison spotted in the band's rehearsal space. Duet also stated that no Acid Bath riffs were recycled for Goatwhore, thus debunking another conspiracy theory. It is also important to note that this band should not be confused with the 1980s New Orleans punk rock band of the same name who released the 1987 "What a Drag" demo.
