GrotesqueBIOGRAPHYGrotesque (1988-1990, 1996, 2007): a Black Metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. F orming in 1988 under the membership of Shamaatae (Real Name: Johan S. Lahger; drums), Goatspell (Real Name: Tomas Lindberg; vocals), Necrolord (Real Name: Jan Kristian Wåhlin; guitars) and Nuctemeron (Real Name: David Hultén; bass), Grotesque would arrive on the Swedish black metal scene to release a set of demos in the form of Ripped from the Cross (1988), The Black Gate Is Closed (1989; with Tomas Eriksson taking over drums) and Rehearsal Demo (1989; with Virgintaker (Real Name: Per Nordgren on bass). For the Incantation EP in 1990, Alf Svensson would take guitars/bass (tracks 1-3)/keyboards. This would not last, however, for the band split soon after. Grotesque reformed in 1996 to release the In the Embrace of Evil compilation but quickly split again. On January 26th, 2007, Grotesque reformed to play during the release party of the Swedish Death Metal, but by April 2nd, Lindberg announced that Grotesque was done again.
