Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper

his band evolved between the solo project of Steve Grimmett and a reunion of his former band Grim Reaper. Grimmett reportedly added his name to "Grim Reaper" due to legal issues that prevented him from recording and performing under the former name. He would perform under his own name but on his solo career for selected live performances but over time the same group of musicians would perform under both Grim Reaper and Steve Grimmett titles before the solo band identity was eventually absorbed fully into "Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper".

While on tour in Ecuador in January 2017, Steve Grimmett suffered a severe infection that resulted doctors being forced to amputate his right leg below the knee. Grimmett continued to record and perform live despite this setback, initially appearing onstage in his wheelchair before later standing with use of a prosthetic limb.

When Grimmett died unexpectedly of heart issues in August of 2022, Steve Grimmett's now reformed Grim Reaper's appearance at the Keep it True Rising 2 festival naturally became a tribute performance. The remaining band members were joined by former Grim Reaper guitarist Nick Bowcott and his son Russ Grimmett on vocals, with guest appearances by Harry Conklin and Olof Wikstrand.

As Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper the membership of Ian Nash (guitars), Chaz Grimaldi (bass), Mark Rumble (drums) and Steve Grimmett (R.I.P. 2022; vocals) the act would debut with the Alive and Kicking EP (2011). The follow-up, Walking in the Shadows (2016), featuring the members Paul White assuming drums and Martin Trail taking bass would see another membership change soon after with Mark Pullin (drums) and Julian Hill (bass) for the third effort, At the Gates (2019). Soon before the death of Grimmett, the live album Reaping the Whirlwind (2022) would arrive. The act disbanded soon after his death in August of that same year.
