T his act split in 1985 with no achievements under their belts but reformed in 1991 to raise awareness and funding for Leukemia Research, in tribute to original drummer Danny Spancer who died of Leukemia. Debuting with the live album Radio Hallam January '83 - The Live Session (1983) the membership of Pete Bangert (guitars), Chris Hamilton (bass), Danny Spencer (drums; R.I.P. 1990 of Leukemia) Jack Bunker (vocals) would release the boldly titled Phoenix Rising EP (1983). Leukemia Research Benefit Tape EP (1992) arrived next as a tribute to the death of Spencer. Footnote: The label on which all Phoenix Rising records were released, 'Rising Records', is owned by their guitarist Pete Bangert. Furthermore, the band is often mistakenly thought to be named "Phoenix", with an album title of "Rising".
