ManeskinBIOGRAPHYManeskin (2016-present): a Hard Rock band from Rome, Italy. G lam rock/hard rock act MÃ¥neskin, Danish for 'moonlight', is an Italian band from Rome, consisting of Damiano David (vocals), Victoria De Angelis (bass), Thomas Raggi (guitar), and Ethan Torchio (drums). The band's name was chosen when they registered for Pulse, a local music contest for emerging bands while they were still high school students. During the brainstorm, De Angelis, who is half Danish, was asked by her bandmates to toss out some Danish words, and MÃ¥neskin was the result. The band rose to fame after ending up second in the eleventh season of the Italian talent show X Factor in 2017. They would go on to win several other contests until finally gaining victory at the 2021 Eurovision, an effort that got them international exposure. That exposure, however, was not without controversy when the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) investigated an incident after a clip from the live broadcast went viral, showing David lowering and then lifting his head from a table as the band cheered their road to victory. The accusation was that he was snorting cocaine, an accusation that a couple of days later was dismissed. Their discography consists of Il ballo della vita (2018) and Teatro d'ira: Vol. 1 (2021), as well as the EP Chosen (2017). ** This article is also available on our official app.
