WardrunaBIOGRAPHYWardruna (2003-present): a Folk Metal band from Bergen, Norway. S tarted by former Gorgoroth members Einar "Kvitrafn" Selvik (vocals/all instruments) and Gaahl (Real Name: Kristian Eivind Espedal; vocals) in 2003, Wardruna would release the debut Runaljod - Gap Var Ginnunga (2009) stuffed full of Scandinavian folk lyrics and sporting two new added members in the form of Lindy Fay Hella (vocals) and Hallvard Kleiveland (hardanger fiddle). The album would be followed up with Runaljod - Yggdrasil (2013). In 2014 the group took part in the composing of the musical score for the second season of the TV show Vikings, along with Trevor Morris. Gaahl would be gone by the third set, Runaljod - Ragnarok (2016), and replaced with Eilif Gundersen (bronze lure/birchbark lure/goat horn/willow flute/ice percussion), Arne Sandvoll (vocals), HC Daalgard (vocals) and Kjell Braaten (vocals) and if the vocals were not enough, the Skarvebarna Children's Choir was also thrown onto the record! Thanks in part to the success of Vikings, the album debuted at 1 on Billboard's World Albums chart. The band's fourth album, the acoustic Skald would arrive in 2018. Their fifth studio album, Kvitravn would arrive in 2021 now on major label 'Columbia Records'.
