Mercy CreekBIOGRAPHYMercy Creek (1998-present): a Hard Rock band from USA. F ormed in the summer of 1998, Mercy Creek started just before vocalist/songwriter Cheryl Nystrom graduated from high school. She signed up to tour the US with the roots based rock band, Genghis Angus. While with them, Nystrom began writing and recording with Genghis drummer/songwriter/founder Jim Ball, and even got the opportunity to perform with folk legend Arlo Guthrey. Mercy Creek became their full time occupation with the release of Bloomington 3 (1999), a 3 song EP. As a duo and calling themselves "Aggressive Folk Rock", they performed original material as well as cover tunes from a wide range of influences including Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Jewel, Shawn Clovin, U2 and Cheryl Crow. They have since followed it up with: the name of the record is mercy creek (1999; yes, spelled in lower case), Dirty Water (2001), Storm Has Blown Over (2003), Bonfire of Vanities (2005), Another Place to Start (2008), Live at OBX (2010; Live) and Make A Memory (2013).
