EngelBIOGRAPHYEngel (2004-present): a Death Metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. F ormed as a minor supergroup, featuring members from other known Swedish bands, specifically guitarist Niclas Engelin being one of the members from a trio of groups following the disbanding of his former act The Crown. In 2007 their debut, Absolute Design, would arrive featuring the membership of Mangan Klavborn (vocals), Niclas Engelin (guitars; ex-Gardenian/In Flames/ex-Passenger), Marcus Sunesson (guitars; ex-The Crown), Mikael HÃ¥kansson (bass) and Daniel Moilanen (drums; ex-The Project Hate/ex-Runemagick/Katatonia). The album would be more in the style of a more modern melodic death style banner (as opposed to classical of In Flames or Dark Tranquillity pioneered). Metalcore and even nu-metal down-tuned guitars would also be added to the mix, along with modern vocals that alternate between a hardcore scream and clean chorus. Threnody (2010) and Blood of Saints (2012) would follow with HÃ¥kansson and Moilanen replaced by Steve Drennan and Jimmy Olausson respectively. Raven Kings (2014) and Abandon All Hope (2018) would feature Oscar Nilsson on drums. Footnote: Not to be confused with the band from Spain with the same name.
