The Fundamental Elements of Southtown, spawned the hits Southtown and Rock the Party (Off the Hook); their first video to reach 1 on MTV's Total Request Live.

On September 11, 2001 P.O.D. released their fourth album, Satellite. The first single, Alive, became one of MTV's and MTV2's top played videos of the year. The video's popularity, as well as the song's positive message, helped the song become a modern rock radio hit getting it a Grammy nomination for Best hard rock Performance the following year. Also in 2002, the band contributed the song America to Santana's new album Shaman.

The Grammy nominations would keep coming the following year when Satellite's second single, Youth of the Nation, received a Grammy nomination for Best hard rock Performance in 2003. The track was influenced in part by the school shootings at Santana High School, Columbine High School, and Granite Hills High School. The concluding track of the album, Portrait, was also Grammy nominated for Best Metal Performance in 2003 and was used in the comedy film Here Comes the Boom (Korn would ultimately win the award for their Here to Stay track); the album would go RIAA-certified triple platinum.

Although he claimed he was kicked out of the band, on February 19, 2003, guitarist Curiel left the band. According to the official records, he left for his side project, The Accident Experiment, and due to "spiritual differences." He was replaced by Jason Truby, former member of christian metal band Living Sacrifice, and assisted with the recording of "Sleeping Awake", from The Matrix Reloaded soundtrack.

Payable on Death (2003) saw the group shift from their well-known 'rapcore' sound to a darker, more melodic metal sound. The album was hit with controversy due to its "occult" cover, which led to most Christian bookstores across the United States to ban the album. With the help of the album's singles Will You and Change the World, the album nonetheless went on to sell over 520,000 copies and certified Gold.

The Warriors EP, Volume 2 (2005) was released as a prequel to the upcoming album, Testify (2006; was originally slated for late 2005 but the date was pushed back).

On September 16, 2006, P.O.D. announced that they had teamed up with 'Rhino Records' to release a greatest hits record simply titled, Greatest Hits: The Atlantic Years (2006) to announce their end of business with 'Atlantic'.

On December 30, 2006, Jason Truby left the band and replaced by the returning Curiel.

February, 2007 saw the band sing with 'INO Records', the resulting album would be When Angels and Serpents Dance (2008).

Record deals with 'Razor & Tie' and then 'T-Boy Records' saw the release of Murdered Love (2012), the acoustic album SoCal Sessions (2014), The Awakening (2015), Circles (2018) and Veritas (2024).
