1349BIOGRAPHY1349 (1997-present): a Black Metal band from Oslo, Norway. B lack metal band 1349 started out in 1994 as Hqfdingi Myrkra with Ravn (Real Name: Olav Bergene) on drums and vocals, and Seidemann (Real Name: Tor Risdal Stavenes) on bass and guitar. This formation of the band subsequently took a long break during which Ravn played in a band called Alvheim. When Alvheim split in 1998 Ravn recruited guitarists Tjalve (Real Name: Andrè Kvebek) and Balfori from Alvheim and formed 1349. Balfori left due to musical differences after their first demo (recorded in January 1999 and never released). Sometime during the following summer, 1349 entered the studio to record a new demo entitled Chaos Preferred with Tjalve handling all the guitars. This demo proved to be faster, darker and rawer than the older material and more in accord with Ravn's vision of true, synthesizeresizeresizer-free old school black metal. After the demo, they hunted down Archaon (Real Name: Idar Burheim) to fill in the guitar spot. The band then landed a deal with 'Holycaust Records'. 1349 then borrowed Frost (Real Name: Kjetil Vidar Haraldstad; of Satyricon) as a session drummer in the studio. Frost was impressed by the material and became a permanent member soon after for the release of the EP 1349. The act then got a bigger deal with 'Candlelight Records' to release Liberation (2003) and Beyond the Apocalypse (2004). Beyond the Apocalypse (2004), Hellfire (2005), Revelations of the Black Flame (2009; sans Tjalve who left shortly before), Demonoir (2010) and Massive Cauldron of Chaos (2014) and The Infernal Pathway (2019) would follow, along with two EPs in the form of Dødskamp (2019), Through Eyes of Stone (2019) and The Wolf & The King (2024).
