WarmachineBIOGRAPHYWarmachine (1994-present): a Thrash Metal band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. W ith their musical style consisting of catchy melodies with aggressive and energetic thrash metal rhythms, Warmachine would become viewed as a rebirth of "old school" heavy metal with a new young face. Started in 1994 by Joe DiTaranto (vocals/guitar), Mike Miolla as the second lead/rhythm guitarist and Neil Tate (drums), the band had an initial passion to play heavy metal. From a young age all three members had spent most of their childhood years listening and being exposed to legendary bands such as Queen, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Megadeth and Metallica. Although they initially had a hard time finding a good bassist that could keep up to their intense style of playing, Warmachine continued to perform and rehearse as a three-piece band for their first year as a regular live act playing for free in a biker bar outside of the Toronto area. After several auditions in 1997, they finally found exactly what they were looking for in a bassist when they discovered Andrea Zanini. By late 1998, during one of their concerts they discovered Andrew Zenti who was playing in another band at the time. The band auditioned him and found an immediate connection. They then would release Demo-lition (1998), a demo CD that was followed by three self released recordings in the form of the demos Demo #2 (1999), Warmachine Demo 2001 (2001) and Warmachine (2001). In 2003 things were a bit different for the act. Despite their potential, excitement around them, they saw little of that express itself outside of Toronto where they still held a following, especially in the many bars where they played live with such acts as Eidolon, Anvil, Razor, Exciter, Beyond The Embrace, Jag Panzer, Flotsam and Jetsam, Steel Prophet, Macabre, Skinlab, Agent Steel, Seven Witches and Helloween. Now with the line-up of: Joe Di Taranto (lead/rhythm guitars/vocals), John Salerno (lead/rhythm guitars), Alberto Campuzano (bass) and Adam Raymer (drums) they would release the debut album, The Beginning Of The End (2005) and Left for Dead (2011). Footnote: I [Diskery Editor: Derek McDonald] had the pleasure of meeting them my first time at the "hard rock" Café downtown Toronto when taking a visit to see a performance by Betrayer (Canada).
