Ripping CorpseBIOGRAPHYRipping Corpse (1987-1993): a Death Metal band from Red Bank, New Jersey, USA. F eaturing the only line-up of Scott Ruth (vocals), Shaune Kelley (guitar), Erik Rutan (guitar), Dave Bizzigotti (bass) and Brandon Thomas (drums), Ripping Corpse would prove to be a short-lived operation and were notable for (among other things) being one of the earliest operations to feature Erik Rutan, who would also find fame as guitarist in Hate Eternal, Alas and the well-known Floridian death metal band Morbid Angel. The band managed a couple of demos before recording their one and only record, 1991's Dreaming with the Dead. Musically, Ripping Corpse straddled the fine line between Death and Thrash, with the guitar work more in the Death style, while vocalist Scott Ruth sounded more like traditional thrash metal of the late eighties. The album would prove the test of time, still coming across as fresh more than 10 years after its release. The band broke up in 1993, but several years later Ruth, Kelley and Thomas would form their own act called Dim Mak, with Erik Rutan producing their debut album, but not as a band member.
