Impending DoomBIOGRAPHYImpending Doom (1995-2003): a Black Metal band from Rockendorf, Thuringia, Germany. I n 1993 Marcus Regel (guitar), Uwe Roedel (guitar), Thomas Born (bass) and Pierre Krueger (drums) formed Black Prophecy (later changed to Infernal Bleeding) in Thuringia, Germany to play death metal. The first two years of the operation saw little public action for they spent the time rehearsing and writing songs, but in the summer of 1995 Andreas Kaufmann (ex-Krypta; vocals) joined the band, while still an active member of death metal/thrash-band Nameless. As a complete act they performed for the first time, but Roedel disliked the direction the band was going and left. When Patrick W. Engel (guitar) and Olaf Riegler (keyboards) joined the band they changed their name to Impending Doom and a few days later they recorded their first track My Goddess for release on an underground CD-compilation, But the project never happened. Later that summer their debut-demo Messias Abaddon was completed. They were now ready for concerts with Occult, Mayhemic Truth and Krabathor. In February 1996 the band recorded a promo tape called Pagan Fires to look for a possible record deal. This tape was limited to 100 copies that resulted in a two album deal with 'Perverted Taste' (Germany), but short time before signing, the band released a split-7 inch EP titled Thuringian Circle with their buddies in Atanatos ('Unholy Baphomet Records'; the small underground label of Andreas Kaufmann). After some live shows Riegler left band because of personal and musical issues. The ensuing mini tour with Gorgoroth and Mystic Circle, and the three week tour with Coercion and Purgatory (USA) proved to be important gigs in the band's history for it was their first time playing in foreign countries (Poland and Netherlands specifically). In August 1998 Signum Of Hate was released featuring only Engel (guitars), Kaufmann (a.k.a. A. Deathmonger; vocals) and Pierre Krüger (drums); in Russia this album was released on limited tape version including two bonus tracks, also included on the LP version. During the same year Impending Doom gigged with Sodom as well. In 1999 a new split-7 inch EP together with Denmark's Exmortem was released titled Cromlech. A four track demo Promo Recordings was then released to look for a new record company as their past contract had now expired. In late summer the small underground label 'Deadly Art' released a vinyl-only 10 inch mini-LP titled Blasphemy Incarnate, including new and rare live material but it was the end of 2000 when Impending Doom signed a new deal with 'Cudgel Agency' to release the third full-length album Apocalypse III. - The Manifested Purgatorium (2001); the small German label 'Christhunt Productions' subsequently released a limited edition LP version (500 pieces) with gatefold cover, including bonus material. The album featured the whole original group plus Marcus Regel added to guitars. In late summer of 2001 Impending Doom recorded a cover version of Czech black metal band Maniac Butcher for inclusion on US based compilation-CD, but the project was halted because of financial problems, so the band decided to make a limited edition 7 inch EP in July 2002 on their own, including this track and a new song. After the release of the third album and the 2001 arrival of the 7 inch record, Luciferian Curse, the deal with 'Cudgel Agency' was finished and now Impending Doom was free to sign to 'Voice Of Life', a hardcore punk and heavy metal label from Germany. During 2002 and 2003 the recording sessions for the follow-up album had been delayed due to Krueger's employment in Russia, but in late 2003 the EP Beyond The Altar Of Obscenity (A Decade Of Blasphemy) "best of..." arrived with Mirko Dreier replacing him. The act folded the next year. Read Less... ⏫
