Bloodbath

asically Bloodbath is a super group featuring some of Sweden's finest, a break from their day jobs if you like, to go back to basics of old-school brutal death metal, including Mikael Ã...kerfeldt (of Opeth; vocals), Anders Nyström (ex-Katatonia/ex-Bewitched/ex-Diabolical Masquerade; guitars/backing vocals), Dan Swanö (ex-Edge of Sanity/ex-Nightingale/ex-Dan Swanö/ex-Godsend/ex-Pan-Thy-Monium; drums) and Jonas Renkse (of Katatonia; bass/backing vocals). The original plan was to release only the one EP, Breeding Death in 2000, but it was later decided to make it an on-going operation, and the second release (the first full-length album), Resurrection Through Carnage, resulted in late 2002.

In March 2004 a lineup shift occurred with Hypocrisy vocalist Peter Tägtgren taking over for Mikael Ã...kerfeldt and drummer Martin Axenrot joining the band replacing Dan Swanö who switched from drums to guitars to work has on a new upcoming album. The membership would change again with Joakim Karlsson for one year during 2018 on guitars who took over from Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson who was on the instrument 2007-2017 while their discography ballooned to include The Fathomless Mastery (2008), Unblessing the Purity (2008) EP, Grand Morbid Funeral (2014) and The Arrow of Satan is Drawn (2018).
