Armoured AngelBIOGRAPHYArmoured Angel (1984-2001): a Death Metal band from Camberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. O riginally under the name Metal Asylum between the years of 1992-1994, Armoured Angel reformed in 198 as one of the earliest examples of Australian death metal. Over time, however, that status would change with the incorporation of progressive metal and thrash metal by the releasing of a bunch of demos in the 1980s to no interest, but with the membership of Matt Green (guitar), Joel Green (drums/vocals) and Glen Luck (bass), Armoured Angel would release the Stigmartyr (1992) and Mysterium (1994) EPs. After taking a break, Armoured Angel would reform to finally release a full-length album in the form of Angel of the Sixth Order (1999) with the line-up of Glen Luck (bass), Yuri Ward (guitar/vocals) and Steve Luff (drums). In fairness Armoured Angel were never really death metal in the standard sense of the word except for Ward's simple growly death vocals; the musical score being more of a death metal/thrash metal/progressive metal mix. They split soon after the album's release, and although there was talk of a reformation in 2001 it never panned out. Armoured Angel (along with Alchemist) are the inventors of Australia's annual heavy metal event Metal for the Brain.
