Derek McDonald has been in the music and IT businesses for sometime (approx. 15 years). He has written for several magazines, done many a interview and personally knows some 300 bands, not to mention assistance with CD liner write-ups, cameo spots in videos, CDs production for others, and broadcasting. His career in IT is just as impressive involving teaching, software development, consulting and authoring for institutions and corporations.

Along with Emperor Multimedia, he is also the founder of the RRCA, one of the oldest music archives and based on a database he designed and programmed. Based on that same technology, he would also be the founder of Diskery, one of the first on-line music retail sites.

He is probably best known for his production work on the 3 CD-ROMs: Alliance, Recorded History and Polishing of Metal that saw major label publishing and worldwide release. In 2008 he's re-affirmed his commitment to the computer industry with upgrading his skills by returning the higher education: Ryerson University, to obtain a degree in Commerce.
