Incantation would be a part of the East Coast Death Metal scene in the styles of Suffocation and Immolation. Incantation specialized in down-tuned grind with low-pitched guttural vocals. Their 1992 debut, Onward To Golgotha featured the line-up of Craig Pillard (vocals/guitar),John McEntee (guitar),Ronnie Deo (bass) and Jim Roe (drums), but their line-up was always in flux surrounding founding member McEntee. Mortal Throne Of Nazarene followed in 1994 withDave Nedrest replacing Deo. The Forsaken Mourning ... EP (1997) saw Daniel Corchado and Kyle Severn assume the bass and drum roles respectively, but the follow-up, Tribute To The Goat, that same year saw yet another change in the form ofMike Saez assisting with guitar and vocals for by the next year's Diabolical Conquest the distinctive vocals of Pillard was gone, not to mention the departure Saez, leaving the group as a triad.
Infernal Storm (2000) was a return to force of sorts for the band with Saez back, not to mention the replacement of the rhythm section in the form of Robert Yench (bass) and Dave Culross (drums). Severn would return to assume drums on their limited edition live 2LP set Blasphemy In Brazil (2001) and Blasphemy (2002) featuring Joe Lombard on bass.
