The Creepshow

Biography

The Creepshow (2005-present): a Rock band from Burlington, Ontario, Canada.

P

sychobilly band, The Creepshow started in 2005 in Burlington, Ontario, Canada performing music inspired by horror films. Psychobilly is a fusion genre of rock music that mixes elements of punk rock, rock and roll, rockabilly, and rhythm and blues. Since the Diskery database has no category for this complex mix in its lexicon, it calls it simply 'Rock'.

The group has its roots with most members having been in various garage bands. Sean McNab was the singer/guitarist for Outspan and Jersey. McGinty was the songwriter and trombonist for the ska band Two-face and played trombone in Outspan. Matt "Pomade" Gee split his time between The Creepshow and punk band Rehab for Quitters where he plays drums.

The Creepshow has become known for their fast-paced songs filled with backup vocals from McNab and McGinty that the whole crowd can participate in.

After initially recording two songs for the Zombie Night in Canada Vol. 2, 'Stereo Dymamite' founder Adam (DOOM) Sewell signed the band after hearing the band's demo in 2005. The band released their first album, Sell Your Soul, on 'Stereo Dynamite' shortly after in 2006 with EMI handling distribution, but three years later, California based 'Hellcat' would pick them up and re-release their second album.

Jen Hellcat's (no relation to the record company) pregnancy lead her to leave the act with her vocals and guitar duties taken over by her younger sister, Sarah "Sin" on a temporary basis, and then permanently. In 2007, Hellcat began producing an album with her new band Hellcat and the Prowl.

On October 27, 2008, the band released their second album, Run for Your Life.

In August 23, 2008, they joined Anti Flag on a Canadian tour after which they made their way to Europe in October in support of their new album.

The band toured North America and Europe in early 2009. In August, 2009, the band had two successful gigs in Russia. In September, 2009 the act engaged in a US tour through October. It was one of many tours over the next year that saw them in Australia, Czech Republic and England.

In 2010 the act released They All Fall Down.

In January 2012, Sarah Blackwood guess starred with fellow Burlington, Ontario band Walk off the Earth on a cover of Gotye's song Somebody That I Used To Know. The resulting video on YouTube went viral, gathering over 127 million views in four months and received positive responses from both Gotye and his co-singer on the song, Kimbra. In February 2012, the band signed a recording contract with 'Columbia Records'.

In 2012 The Creepshow had announced a tour of Europe and North America for the late summer - including dates in the United Kingdom in August. However, Walk Off The Earth soon announced a tour of their own, and on July 16, Blackwood uploaded a farewell video to her YouTube page, announcing she was leaving The Creepshow to join Walk Off The Earth on a permanent basis. The very same day the band announced that Kenda "Twisted" Legaspi would replace her.

They released the single, Sinners & Saints on July 16, 2013 via digital download and limited edition 7" brown colored vinyl; the matching album, Life After Death was released on October 21, 2013.

The band continued to tour into their tenth anniversary year, including dates in the UK in 2015. They also headlined the Arena at Rebellion Festival 2015 under the membership of: Kenda "Twisted" Legaspi (Lead vocals/guitar), Sean "Sickboy" McNab (upright bass/Backup vocals), Kristian "The Reverend" Rowles (Keys/Backup vocals), Sandro "Blood" Sanchioni (drums) and Daniel Flamm (rhythm guitar).

Death at My Door (2017) would follow.
