Vimana was formed in Italy in the summer of 2004 with the intention of fusing the greatness of rock song-writing with electronic and ethnic elements. The band was a result of 3 close friends Elio D'Anna (Vocals/Electric and 12 string guitar/Piano and electronics), Filippo Sabatini (Electric Bass/Double Bass/Piano), Edoardo Vannozzi (Drums/Percussions) who met in high-school in Tuscany-Italy. When the members were still in their teens, they started exploring the use of sequencers and projections for live performances. Soon Elio was working in several London studios such as Abbey road, Strong rooms, and Mellow road with artists such as Rudy Ashcroft, Rocky from Asian Dub Foundation and the collective Shiva Soundsystem developing great experience in production and song-writing. In Christmas 2004 the played in the unique locations as Goa and Bombay for MTV India, twice in a role at Glastounbury Festival with the Shiva Soundsystem collective and held very special nights in the heart of London including: Hard Rock Cafe, Il Bottaccio, 93 feet east, The Bush Hall, Cargo, Notting hill Arts Club, Madame Jojos, The Bedford, Mamilanji, Cafe l'Atlantique and many more. Still mostly a live act, the band will soon record.
