T

he short-lived World War III came together when vocalist Mandy Lion and guitarist Tracy G. were joined by former Dio members Jimmy Bain (bass) and Vinnie Appice (drums). Their debut (and only) release, World War III (1991), was an impressive display of traditional heavy metal featuring Tracy G.'s guitar work accompanied by the thunderous Bain/Appice attack, even if Lion's gruff vocals were preoccupied with his own sexual fantasies and exploits. The album, nonetheless, was met with limited success and the band dissolved thereafter. Appice then returned to Dio before rejoining Tracy G. in Dio. Lion would join Jake E. Lee's post-Bandlands group, Wicked Alliance.
