Estertor is/was a band of Melodic Death Metal with influences of Doom Metal and Standard Heavy Metal melding into a kind of Heavy Thrash. They started in Cochabamba, Bolivia at the end of 1996 with the original members: Gustavo Mendoza (bass), Pablo Mendoza (drums/vocal) and Marcelo Soto (guitar).
By 1998 they had played in many concerts with international bands like Britannia, Neurosis Inc. and Rotting Christ. In 2000, Estertor participated in another festival that got them 1st place, an event that was captured in the release of the 1st demo called Episodes Of The Shadows, a production containing 7 compositions of 2 live and covers of bands that influenced Estertor since their creation in the world of The Metal. Due to a personal decision, Gustavo, left the band soon after, a hole that was filled by Rommel with Arturo added as 2nd guitar.
In January of 2001, Estertor burst out from their hometown across South America and Europe. At this time also Estertor appeared in several compilations at a national level. On March 28th 2001, Estertor was chosen as support for the Swedish band Hammerfall for its Latin American tour in Bolivia. Being the first time that a European band of Metal played in the country, this nomination demonstrated that Estertor was becoming a respected entity. Later, On July 27th 2001, Estertor hosted another act at gigs, this time Rata Blanca in its Latino America tour. The year 2002 would generate more big surprises for the band, being invited to shows with South American acts like Brazil's Thoten, Argentina's Avernal and Peru's Mortem and Disinter (Peru) in the of Lima, Peru. Not to mention their performances in Peru at El Alto, Juliaca and Arequipa. They were also as support band of Argentinean Horcas in Santa Cruz. Most recently their CD Between Silence And Light (2003) has been released.
