Hellhammer (1982-1984): a Thrash Metal band from Nürensdorf, Zürich, Switzerland.

W

ith Tom G. Warrior (Real Name: Thomas Gabriel Fischer; guitars/vocals), Martin E. Ain (R.I.P. 2017; bass) and Denial Fiend (drums) Hellhammer would release their one and only recording, Apocalyptic Raids EP in 1984.

Originally named Hammerhead, Hellhammer are widely credited as pioneers of extreme heavy metal (black metal in particular) along side the likes of Venom and Bathory. Warrior and Ain went on to form Celtic Frost the day after Hellhammer disbanded. Contrary to popular belief, Hellhammer never changed its name to Celtic Frost.
