After the release of their debut When Broken Is Easily Fixed (2003), the band achieved moderate success with their second studio album, Discovering the Waterfront (2005), which was nominated for a Juno Award and reached 34 on the Billboard 200 charts, with the following two albums, Arrivals & Departures (2007) and A Shipwreck in the Sand (2009), charting at similar positions. These releases were followed-up with: Rescue (2011), Short Songs (2012) and This Is How the Wind Shifts (2013).
In 2010, the act left long-time record label, 'Victory Records' and, after a period with 'Hopeless Records', would sign to 'Rise Records'. They released their eighth studio album, I Am Alive in Everything I Touch in 2015, now selling over 1 million albums worldwide to this point. Dead Reflection (2017) and A Beautiful Place to Drown (2020) followed along with the compilations Redux: The First Ten Years (2019) and Redux II (2020). Their next fill length would be Misery Made Me (2020).
